Eating my way through Asia……
Grateful that as a child I was encouraged to try new foods. My father had a taste for strong and pungent flavors.
He loved sardines…. Salted Herring….. brains…. Liver…. and liverworst. When we had chicken there were rarely any bones 🦴 left on his plate, he ate them. A habit I have mostly embraced, except for larger leg bones…. to much work. ( I also have a sweet spot for salted peanut shells…… not in my Fathers portfolio. )
In the sweet department he loved strong flavors, stout licorice, whorehound and anything that was flavored with “anise.”

So I excelled in trying new things and that passion has never left me.
- Pickled goat eyes in Turkey
- Guinea pig in Peru
- Raw fish several countries
- Beef tongue
- all sorts of pickled things Yet to be identified
- assorted bugs and scorpion 🦂
So it with much anticipation after spending 6 months in the Philippines and experiencing their cuisine….. I land in Vietnam to experience the plethora of new tastes awaiting……Bon apetit
