We tend to categorize things in their level of importance in shaping and defining our lives

Those designations also determine the amount of “truthfulness” and “honesty” we assign to them …… if we believe they are of little consequence and have minimum bearing on our day to day lives.

Either you are honest or you are not

An honest person will feel uncomfortable and out of alignment if they feel misunderstood or have been attributed to notions or ideas they don’t adhere to. The record is either straight or it’s not …. there is no grey area.

so honesty is always about self……watered down honesty in the cover of  protection and/or  damage control is a lie …..

the issue here is not about protection…. It is about responsibility of accepting the possibility of “hurt emotions” on both sides

who is the “ protector” actually protecting

Honest people are often both  “loved and despised” depending on their audience….. and those they offend by virtues …. the offended do not possess….. to be clear honesty will not make you the most cherished people in the room but it is guaranteed to make your pillow softer
