“Isaac’s Dream”

( I was not part of this particular build…. I recant it and have embellished it immensely…. Because I wasn’t there at the time….. but I am there now “

a friend of mine….. probably one of my top 3…..is a kind hearted jovial soul …. that can start a friendship with a tree. His enthusiasm for life is infectious….. his initials are B.R.H…… and that’s all you’re going to get. His favorite pastime is working on some project of his own making or helping others with their projects.

Amish neighbors invited him to a “pole barn raising” which we both have participated in. The event was extremely well organized and went off like clockwork.
“B” professes to be an agnostic but I don’t believe it….his attitude and actions just don’t exhibit that mentality and we have prayed together and said grace at meals.

Anyway the work started early and he said everyone had a specific job and by 12 noon the poles were set ….. breaking for a fabulous home cooked lunch for an hour….. and by 6 the roof and rough wood siding was in place .

He said he just had this vibe from the workers spirit and demeanor that this was a special place.

All hand tools….. no generators….. no electricity ….with all hand hewn logs and panels. Then when everything was cleaned up and people had cleaned up with pitchers of water and hand towels. Everyone headed back to the barn.

The Elder overseeing the project was a lanky fellow around mid forties climbed a latter back on to the roof…His name was brother Isaac. He bent down and retrieved something and B said he saw it was a cross.

It was fitted with a supporting framework and it was secured in a few minutes…..people clapped and B realized he had just participated in building a church.
They sat down to a feast and afterwards sang a few hymns as the sun faded.

B said……” it was one of the most beautiful….. serene….. mysterious days that I can recall……I don’t know what was going on there….. but I know something was “…….

 I smiled……….. I know what it was

and B….. you do too
