You never know……
I met Jo in a bar
little bit drunk and it showed
we tried to carry on a conversation
but that was in vain
so we just smiled at each other
and sorta danced now and then
she said she had taken a cab
because she knew she was going to get drunk
so she asked for a ride and I took her to a trailer park nearby
–
she wanted to be serviced but she was too drunk
so I got her situated and got in my truck…I knew she wouldn’t remember so I left a note with my number
–
so a week ago I got a call and it was Jo …. And asked if I remembered her and we both started laughing and I mumbled “yes”
I want you to come visit I hope you can oblige…. I said “okay”…. And in a few days arrived
–
she said I was a good man and helped her to believe there were more
she started a painting business and then two more and the address I arrived at was a far cry from before
she asked me to accept a gift and she handed me an envelope and inside was a check
to the sum of a 100,000 thousand dollars…. which of course I didn’t want to accept….. but she insisted
she said she was married but her husband was away…that she told the story and this is what he said…..” We have been blessed with more than we will ever need ……. When I sell the factory we will have more money to give away. That man changed my and your life, do what you want but he will put up a fight. Tell him he will never know how respecting you gave us a chance to grow up together in love….. that is priceless……
Walked like a drunk man to my van …… shaking my head for a hundred miles till my neck hurt.
