outside their back door
i tried to talk to you but you wouldn’t listen, so i thought i’d write you a song/maybe you’ll hear it and stop and ponder, what you’re doing and what went wrong
i’m not sayin’ i was an angel/you made it clear you were going to do your own thing/ i packed my stuff and moved to Virginia/ you’re still in Memphis with the cat and the dog
you can’t make someone see till their ready/waste of time with threats and harsh words/ they’ll find the truth when they’re ready, it will be waiting outside their back door
when we were younger we could make excuses/never having been in this place before/ now we are older and surely know better, we have to change what we are doing or close these doors
their are times when people come to a crossroad, they love each other enough to forgive the past/ or realize they are giving to someone who isn’t willing to give back
you can’t make someone see til they are ready/waste of time with threats and harsh words/ they’ll find the truth when they are ready, it will be waiting outside their back door
