lying on the battlefield the explosion hit me on the side……..i looked down to see a part no longer attached………..i have heard others express that in severe trauma the pain is so great the mind cannot process it and it is almost cancelled out…….i can attest this is true……….i heard a medics voice and he said, ”hold on mate….we’re getting you out of here”…………….

the sun was shining and my eyes focused on a dandelion and i watched as it’s plumes drifted in the air……….i found beauty and peace in despair……..

then i woke up wringing with sweat and the clear thought came to me……….push everything else aside and look for the incredible…………..

it is there…………..it is always there
