candle

i did not want to make the journey…..

the terrain unfamiliar and the distance long……

but i gathered the bare essentials placed them in my backpack and tied a bedroll to the top……

a hat to keep the heat in and my walking stick and gloves….

as i walked the trail this morning i was grateful for the sun, i watched the dew evaporate and return where it came from……

the day was full of splendor and the evening found me calm, for i found a perfect campsite in an alcove over a pond…..

it was soon dark and began to rain, which dampened my intentions to build a fire for light and warmth…….

but i had brought a candle for such a time as this, and as i lit it’s wick a peace came over me…..

as a ate my dinner of dried fish and hardtack, a flood of appreciation came pouring over me…..

for as i watched the candle it reminded me of my Lord, who had always been there for me as i traveled along His Roads….

through the darkest nights and the brightest days He was there, like the candle to comfort and light my way…….

the morning sun awoke me to another day, and the candle burned before me as a sign of the companion who guides me along the way…….

thank-you
