two little boys got out of two different cars and entered the forest to walk and explore

they were inquisitive lads and they tarried to long…. one to observe a brook and the other a swan…… and where separated from their mothers and dads

the parents noticed they were not behind and they followed the trail back to where they last saw their sons

they called and called but there was no response and soon they were sure their sons were lost

so they hurried to the rangers station and arrived at the same time and both families reported missing their sons…………………………. the boys were now aware that they were lost and began to panic as night was coming fast

the families joined forces for strength and reserve and they stayed together to help fraying nerves and to pray

the two boys saw each other from across a creek and they looked for a way in which they could meet

a tree was down a few hundred yards upstream and it allowed one of the boys to cross the beam

they acknowledged that they were lost and agreed to make a shelter and start a fire………………….one had matches, candy bar and some rope and the other an apple, a knife and a comic book

they rigged the rope between two trees and covered them with limbs and leaves………the floor they covered with pine needles and put rocks in a circle to make a fire

there was plenty of wood to gather for a fire and the comic book paper made it easy to light………………they shared their rations and took turns tending the fire exchanging information about school and family

it got colder as the night went on and the fire was helping to keep them warm…………..they sat close together and shared a coat and a scarf and sometime during the night they both dozed off

the search plane spotted the fire below and directed the rangers exactly where to go………………..and as the party approached the two…………….it was a beautiful sight to see they had joined together to weather the situation and survive………sound asleep and as peaceful as two puppies huddled together to stay warm

the families where reunited with their sons and they exchanged information and thanked the searchers for their efforts

one father took his son out in the backyard to a pit where he burned leaves and burned his Klu Klux Klan uniform and told his son he was wrong and apologized

the other father sat his son down and said his comments about the white neighbors wasn’t how church goer’s were supposed to act and the only person that could prevent his advancement was himself

the two families remained friendly and the two boys are roommates in their first year of college

God works in strange ways………………………………………but He works
