the tide has come and extracted its toll

the addition and subtraction comes and goes

what is given is valued to the extent it is respected and used

what has been taken is akin to paying our dues

ceased considering good or fair, time uncovers things as we become prepared

to rightly assess them and use them to extend love and kindness to all men

for a blessing bestowed can be swept away if all of its goodness we keep to ourselves

a gift given continues to grow and one that is hoarded withers and dies

the reality is self effacing but true, the greatest blessings that have come

never involved just me or you

so if i stand on my island and scream when trouble comes, it is very likely

i will be left standing alone

you cannot get what you cannot give, that will never change
