a good man died/for Bill R.

a good man died he was 94, he had a family and lived next door,he wasn’t a talker just went about his day, trying to be a Christian, stay out of Gods’ way

he worked everyday and drove an old car, painted houses on the side and went to the store

sometimes it was hard to know he was there, I guess that’s what good men do

his family was part of mine, we played in both yards and had a gate to both sides,it was never locked because our lives intertwined and we shared each others struggles and tried to be kind

my Dad was loud and Bill was not, but they got along because both had good hearts

sometimes when my Dad and I weren’t getting along Bill would take me places and just be my friend

i didn’t find him remarkable for a long time, but as I got older I changed my mind ,you see now I Have lived in this world, I have a family of boys and girls

and it isn’t always easy when you see them go astray and you can only tell them so much, each has to find their way

but you know that you showed them how important a faith was, and you take comfort in knowing the power of Gods’ love

so when I think about the issues that face our nation and this world,i realize the power that each of us have

it isn’t about standing on corners or carrying signs,it’s about living a God centered life that’s how we change minds

so maybe he was a lot more valuable then I once had thought, because if our country and this world had a few more good men, then perhaps we wouldn’t be in the situation we are in

thanks for the example Bill
