these lofty thoughts that i entertain cause me to wonder and sometimes pain

but in spite of the notion that ”enlightenment” is near

the truth is when i remember the basics i’m already there

the small and simple things when i take time to reflect

give me joy and astonishment

for on the best of days i can clear my mind

and watch dogs play
