that arrow in the night

that arrow in the night

i have learned to accept it when it strikes

i remove it, examine it and pray about how to stop the bleeding

it often concerns something i have or haven’t done to keep my inner light shining

that light is governed by how i act and interact with others

when i was younger i often fancied myself as an outlaw renegade

when actually i was a conformist because my evaluation of radical was askew

in this world radical is not defiant it is compliant to a Power i have come to know as

”Heavenly Father”

to care, to give, to love, willing to put others first that is radical

the coin has turned and i continue to learn i know but scant of life

but what i have learned can best be termed, ” different than what i am prone to think”

that arrow in the night i am grateful for its flight for it keeps me from my greatest enemy
