i fought so long and could not win

the battle ended and i threw up my hands

the possibility that i could be a free man

begin to cross my mind

when you live a certain way for a very long time

you get use to things that later boggle your mind

but when you are sick your logic is blind

to what is reality and what is in your mind

so it took everything to get me to a place

that i couldn’t continue to live life at that pace

so collapsing i was offered Gods’ grace

and grabbed for the lifeline that changed my life

i surrendered to win and my life started over again

and it continues to amaze me everyday
