i sit upon a three-legged stool and each leg represents something special to me

one for sobriety, one to help others in need and one to remind me that left unchecked

my emotions can cause me havoc and stress

i made it sturdy and it has served me well and i owe my life and the quality of it

to stepping aside of what i think i know, to being open to suggestion

one doesn’t ask just anyone for an opinion, and  beware of those offered without a request

but everyone needs people they can trust, they admire and value their thoughts based on the evidence of how they live

this three-legged stool is beautiful in its simplicity and function, if not in its workmanship

on my three-legged stool i look out my window to a world that no longer threatens me, but embraces me
