i cannot get closer to you, without getting closer to me

i can’t fulfill my part if i’m not sure what you need

so i have to hear what makes your heart skip and what makes you bleed

getting closer to you gets me closer to me

making a commitment is an easy thing to do, keeping that commitment pulls us through

the wind and the rain, the hail and the snow and we tread forth together holding hands as we go

giving myself the freedom to let you see the real me, lets me gain perspective on the person i would like to be

risking criticism and judgment i open the doors to places everyone hasn’t had the privilege to go

hoping you will see things that make you want to know

more about me and what i am searching for…….. and in return perhaps you will feel inclined to open your secret doors

so as we get closer to the person we see the road may take a turn and teach us new things but if my love for you is strong and true
