i watch the day and log the receipts

look over the merchandise what to sell and what to keep

and i want to make sure i have been fair and did as i said

balancing the books and assessing my share

i do not speak of monetary things, but of my actions and the joy or trouble they bring

if i have erred i try to set the record straight, apologize and get it off my plate

sometimes if the time isn’t right i make a note and wait for the right spot to own what i did or what i forgot and that is all i can do

i have no illusions that i fall short, of always making the right choice but that is what the reckoning is for

to balance what has been taken with what has been shared

and the ledger never tell lies, either the books are balanced or i am out of line
