each of us has been around the block to know what we are looking for

so we can go about our day and do our pleasantries, but inside we both know

that something is missing

we can talk around it, get close enough to breathe

even elude to a solution that would end the whole damn thing

people can go on pretending for the longest time, once they know the boundaries and the warning signs

when the charade is over, when time did what they would not

they realize they wasted all that time being satisfied with what little they got

they sold themselves out for convienence rather than love

too much to pay for so little
