no way out

you lean back in the chair and listen to the sound of a car door shut

you hear voices and you know someone is on the phone

you glance around the room, for a good place to hide, nothing looks promising, so you let the thought slide

the car doors shuts and the door knob turns, and a figure moves silently across the room

you keep on typing and no words are exchanged, but it seems you are being hit and it kinda stings

the best that could happen is this moment doesn’t change but you get honest with yourself and realize that would just be a dream

words can get you into trouble but they rarely get you out

so before the fireworks start, you put on your safety shield and hope that it works

it’s a novel invention and it can save you a lot of bucks, you put your

tongue between your teeth and clamp down till it hurts, when the missiles start flying you lower your head and duct

when you don’t react to the attack the hurler gets frustrated and calls you a jerk

believe it or not you sort of agree and the silence you offer is deafening

there was no place to hide and the battle didn’t last long and the poison that was thrown has found its way back home

one can only be hurt if you choose to engage, be a possum and play dead and they will eventually walk away
