we get these notions in our head about how things should look and feel

problem is we are forgetting that we base these beliefs on our experience and lets face it, no matter how well read we are or traveled…………………we only know a little

this weathered woman approached me on the street, I was sure she would ask me for money…………………..instead she handed me a little card on which was written ”love dresses funny sometimes”

I read the card and turned and asked her if we might have a conversation, she nodded and pointed to the bench at the bus stop

I inquired ” what is your name ” to which she replied, ” my name is Love or at least that’s what they call me, my given name is Mary but I kinda go with the ”Love” tag, seems like it has grown or me”

”I live in a warehouse on Dock Street and the owners were kind enough to fix me a little place in the back……………………… i look after the place when no one else is around, kinda like a night watchmen………………..works for them, works for me”

”I spend my days looking for ways to help people and in return ”BigBoss” looks after me, it’s a good arrangement for everybody”

” I use to drink a lot and lost my family in a fire, some say I started it, but I can’t say I was in a blackout, so after ten years of trying to drink myself to death, God made me stop……………..the first days I was in the hospital, it was bad…………….made it through the dt’s and lived in the park for about a month…………………..this man who turned out to own the warehouse approached me and asked me if I was an alcoholic and i told him i was but i was trying to find my way to being sober………………..he said  ” winter is coming and you need a place to stay where you won’t freeze to death………………..i will make you a deal, but it hinges on you staying sober……………………you look after my warehouse and I’ll give you a place to stay and money for food each week……………………..that was 7 years ago and it has been a good deal for both of us……………………he said he was doing it because he was an alcoholic in recovery, you never know……………….so i spend my days going to meetings and looking for ways to give back what was given to me………….hope

”Mary, my name is David and I’m in recovery as well, hope to see you in a meeting”

she smiled and said, ” takes one to know one, call me Love ”
