restoring furniture aka ”the riddle of life”
life can mirror the process of working on piece of furniture…………………the results are contingent on how well you prepare the piece you are working on…………………how well you prepare…………………..how much time are you willing to devote to get the results you want………………………that is a very concise description of life
i have a cabinet with five drawers we intend to use for the overflow from the visits and extended stays of the grand-kids…………..it was given to us and we both agreed it fit the bill for its intended use………………………….it had been painted and i wasn’t keen on investing the time to completely strip it down to bare wood and re-stain it…………………so i am sanding it and priming it and after a few primer coats the rough areas will be easy to spot………….and i can justify the necessary time involved, there is no immediate rush
i am not a big fan of painted wood, but it is a well-made piece, made out of oak wood………………… i’m not crazy about oak furniture, but it generally is made sturdy and oak is a hard wood
so i know what to expect and what the end result will be…………………………..but i laugh now at the many times i started on a project, be it at work or leisure and ended with results i wasn’t proud of because i wasn’t realistic about the necessary time and effort involved to achieve the results i sought
so……how much time are you willing to devote to get the results you want………………that my friend is the riddle of life
now you know the question………………………………..you just have to determine the answer
