hurricane

they said it would rain and the wind would blow

but no one knew where it would go

i guess sometimes the Lord don’t know what to do with this crew

so he sends us a hardship to help us pull through

when your neck high in water and you don’t know how to swim

any hand that reaches out for you, you take……………..nobody’s thinking ’bout the  color of their skin

so the neighbors you never spoke to are asking you to come in, they are up on a hill and the water didn’t reach them

and you find out through the evening that they are pretty much like you………………………decent folks trying to get by and they offer you some food

you spend the night on a pull out couch and damn if it don’t feel pretty good, you send up an arrow prayer to God  for seeing you through

the morning finds you on the porch and your neighbor offers you a cup of ”joe”

you smile and say ”i owe you brother” and he smiles and says ”i don’t think so”

maybe that’s it after all, the lord let the rain come down and the wind blow to help us remember

”you reap what you sow, you reap what you sow”
