don’t color me

don’t define me by the color of my skin

i am so much more than that, not a good place to begin

i didn’t choose my color, it was out of my control

i accept what i am, don’t put me in a mould

my color doesn’t dictate that i act a certain way, talk a certain way or walk a certain way………………..my mind does that

i was never told that my color would make or break me

i’m just me, you be you, i’m sure we both have rocks in our shoes      let’s keep them there and out of our heads

i can like you, respect you, love you whatever color you are                    if you aren’t kind, considerate, trustworthy…………………doesn’t matter what color you are

don’t try to define me by the color of my skin

i am so much more than that, not a good place to begin
